By Aadicura | 05 April 2025The Aadicura April 2025 Newsletter focuses on comprehensive urological care while also presenting a complex vascular surgical success story and key institutional outreach initiatives. The issue opens with an informative segment titled “When Consulting a Urologist,” outlining the scope of urology services at Aadicura Superspeciality Hospital. The Department of Urology manages a wide spectrum of conditions affecting the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, urethra, and male and female genital systems. The newsletter details conditions treated, including kidney stones, infections, renal tumours, prostate disorders such as BPH and prostatitis, bladder conditions, urethral strictures, female urinary issues including incontinence and fistulae, paediatric urological abnormalities, and sexual health concerns. Advanced infrastructure, including laser and laparoscopy systems with modern energy sources, supports minimally invasive surgical management. The department is led by Dr Saurabh Jambu, Urologist, Andrologist and Renal Transplant Surgeon, reinforcing specialised expertise in this domain.
The success story featured in this edition presents an “Interesting Case of Vascular Surgery: Aorto-Enteric Fistula.” A 76-year-old male with a history of endovascular repair for an aortic aneurysm presented with recurrent fever, weight loss, intermittent melena, and severe back pain. Imaging with CT angiography suggested an aorto-enteric fistula, indicating communication between the aorta and duodenum. The case required urgent and carefully staged intervention due to its high-risk and life-threatening nature.
The procedure was conducted in two stages by the vascular team. The first stage involved a right axillo bi-femoral bypass using a PTFE graft. In the second stage, exploratory laparotomy with explantation of the aortic stent graft was performed along with aortic repair. The duodenal fistula was separated and repaired in layers with omentopexy. The patient required ICU care post-operatively but made an excellent recovery, gained weight, and remained afebrile thereafter. The team credited for this complex intervention includes Dr Vijay Thakore, Dr Sumit Kapadia, Dr Hiten Patel, and Dr Kushan Nanavati, highlighting multidisciplinary vascular expertise.
The “Star Performers” section recognises Rajesh Upadhyay, Gunja Pathak, Pinkal Jadav, and Ankit More as Best Employees of the Month. Sindhu T Nair and Anjana Rathva were acknowledged as Best Nursing Staff of the Month. Mayaben Mochi and Padmaben Solanki received recognition as Best Multitasking Staff, and Dr Vrunda Patel was honoured as Best Doctor of the Month. This segment reflects Aadicura’s culture of institutional recognition and professional accountability.
